About Mavik

Our Name

Mavik, our name, is inspired by a Hindi word meaning the strength of a diamond with the fluidity of water. Touching on our founder’s heritage, our name represents our deep conviction paired with an agile approach to all we do.

Our Origin Story

Mavik was founded by Vik Uppal with a clear vision to Build Different. Grounded in the conviction that “if you do the same, you’ll be the same”, Vik set out to build an investment firm dedicated to the relentless pursuit of excellence, embracing innovation and seeking a differentiated approach across the organization. Within a mature industry, Mavik is breaking away from the outdated status quo, redefining the investment management space.

What We Do

Mavik employs an opportunistic strategy focused on uncovering what we believe to be the best opportunities. We identify and capitalize on unique transactions across the capital structure, including first mortgages, mezzanine loans, preferred equity, credit facilities and equity. With a primary focus on middle-market real estate and hard assets across the U.S., our team works closely with owners, operating partners, and co-lenders to structure bespoke debt and equity solutions.

Our strategy focuses on highly structured and complex transactions, including investments in that can be in stressed or distressed situations. In some cases, these are deep value transactions with an opportunistic approach across the capital stack or senior or subordinated debt and preferred equity on transitional assets with a flexible duration. Mavik’s reach also includes bespoke note on note transactions, NAV facilities and customized financing solutions for lenders and real estate fund sponsors.

Mavik’s transactions are capitalized by permanent capital and traditional closed end fund vehicles, and as well as separately managed accounts.
